Stephen R. Kemper, 73, of Delphos, passed away Tuesday evening, November 7, 2023 at Vancrest of Delphos surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 13, 1950, in Lima to Leo and Angela (Kaverman) Kemper who both preceded him in death. On May 15, 1971, Steve was united in marriage to Judy M. (Pothast) Kemper who preceded him in death on August 10, 2015.
Steve is survived by a daughter Jennifer (Aaron) Trentman of Delphos; four grandchildren, Braydon and Cassidi Johnson, and Jacob and Caleb Trentman; many nieces and nephews; a companion of many years, Dorothy Hedrick of Delphos, and her family, Darlene (Steve) Fischer, Diane (Todd) Teman, both of Delphos, and Duane (Dena) Hedrick of Harrod, and her seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; a brother, Mike (Linda) Kemper of Delphos; a sister-in-law, Cyndi Kemper of Delphos; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Tom) Schroeder and Diane Pothast both of Delphos; and a brother-in-law, Norm Siebeneck of Ottoville.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Johnson; a brother, Gerald Kemper; brother-in-law, Roger Pothast; and sister-in-law, Valeta Siebeneck.
Steve retired in 2015 from Unverferth Manufacturing. He had worked at Fruehauf/New Holland from 1968-2001. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Steve was on the maintenance committee at the Delphos Senior Citizens Center, where he served as president in 2020. He enjoyed doing yard work, and hanging out with his little Chihuahua that he had forever. He loved to camp and drive around town with his grandchildren on his golf cart. Steve was known for his sense of humor. He never knew a stranger.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 13 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 12 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Delphos Senior Citizens Center or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
