Ruth L. Ebbeskotte, age 84, of Delphos, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at home surrounded by her loving husband Roger and her children.
Ruth was born April 9, 1937, in Ft. Jennings to George and Loretta (Niedert) German, who both preceded her in death. Upon the unfortunate passing of her mother, Loretta, Ruth at age 3 and her younger brother, Richard, were adopted by Mark and Marie (Brinkman) German. Both preceded her in death.
On June 29, 1957, she married Roger W. Ebbeskotte, who survives in Delphos, along with her nine children; three sons, Ronald (Teena) Ebbeskotte of Delphos OH, Mark Ebbeskotte (Thomas Smith) of Columbus and Craig (Christine) Ebbeskotte of Delphos; six daughters, Susan (Charles) Martz of Cincinnati, Nancy (Dean) Benroth of Bluffton, Janet Ebbeskotte (Teresa Tombragel) of Newport, KY, Diane (Chuck) Wilson of Delphos, Katherine (Keith) Buettner of Delphos, and Linda (Robert) Culp of Delphos; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
Ruth is also survived by three sisters, Sally Bergfeld of Waterville, Mildred Schroeder of Shelby, and Helen Wehri of Ft. Jennings; three sisters-in-law also survive, Rose Ann German of Glandorf, Genevieve German of Ft. Jennings, and Betty Ebbeskotte of Chatfield.
Ruth is preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer and Richard German; and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Ruth was a homemaker for 64 years, caring for her family and helped raise her grandchildren in the same loving spirit. She enjoyed watching her children as well as her grandchildren participate in different types of athletic/sporting events as they grew up. Many times going to more than one event in a day to watch them play.
Sports were not the only thing Ruth loved, family gatherings, traveling to see her children and especially going to the ocean. She loved family vacations at Ocean Isle, NC where she got to see all her children and grandchildren bond. She would often ask, “When are we going back?” or say, “Just one more time.” Sitting on the beach with the love of her life, Roger, was special and will always be a memory the family will carry.
Ruth, a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She played a long game and now it is time for her to rest with the Almighty Father. May she find peace with all that preceded her in death.
