Rosa Lee ‘Rosie’ Lyle, age 79, of Delphos passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at her residence. She was born September 1, 1943 in Bowling Green, Ohio to Bernard R. Gamby and Ada P.(Tyson) Gamby who preceded her in death. In 1961 she married Stanford Wiechart and they had four children together. In 1983 Rosie married Stan Lyle who passed away March 22, 2015.
Rosie is survived by her three daughters, Sherryl (Mike) George and Sandra (Fritz) Obermeyer both of Delphos, Debra Braselton of Ft. Wayne; and a son Anthony (Laurie) Wiechart of Topeka, KS. She is also survived by two stepdaughters, Lynne Stover and Sandra Lyle both of Delphos. Rosie is also survived by six grandchildren, Trisha (Tony) Kroeger, Craig (Bailey) Carder, Tony George, Erika George, Scott Braselton, Brett Wiechart and Tiffany (Deangelo) Potts; three step grandchildren, Collin (Erica) Odenweller, Tonja Odenweller and Nick (Andrea) Odenweller; five great-grandchildren, Dalton, Emerson, Andrew, Maylin and Gabriella; and six step-great-grandchildren, Ashton, Aedenn, Liam, Huttson, Emery and Elody.
Rosie is also survived by two brothers, Richard Gamby of Carey and Ed (Emi) Gamby of Defiance.
She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Leroy) Calmes; a brother, Floyd Gamby; sisters-in-law, Joan and Carolyn Gamby; mother-in-law Fran (Wiechart) Hiett; and her best friend Jeanine Suever.
Rosie attended Jefferson High School. She was a waitress at Ron Wagner’s Town House Restaurant, ran computers and cameras in the composition department at the Delphos Herald, was in charge of the shoe department at Val Discount until retirement. She was past president of the Delphos Jaycees Dels, the Delphos Fire Department ladies auxiliary and the Wednesday Early Lucky Ten bowling league. She was also a charter member of the Delphos Area Browns Backers. She enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns, the Indians and Ohio State football games and playing Texas Hold’em. Her favorite place to be was on her patio where she enjoyed the fruits of her labor among the plants, flowers, and feeding and watching the birds and animals play.
A celebration of Rosie’s life will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2023 from 2:00-6:00 p.m. at the Delphos VFW. To help celebrate her life she requested that her relatives and friends dress casually and wear your favorite Cleveland Browns or Indians attire.
Memorial contributions can be made to charity of the donor’s choice.
