Robert Emmet Bockey

Robert Emmet Bockey, 94, of Delphos, passed away Wednesday morning, June 14, 2023 at The Meadows of Delphos.

He was born in Delphos on August 20, 1928, to John and Germaine (Reddington) Bockey, who both preceded him in death.

Bob graduated in 1946 and joined the Navy for two years on the carrier USS Midway.

In October of 1983 he married Barbara Vollmer, who survives in Delphos.

His son David and daughter Julia preceded him in death.

He is survived by three step-children, Patricia J. (Peter) Saville in Atlanta, GA, Timothy (Kathleen) Spellman of Farmington, MI, and Maureen (Dino) Del Serrone of Mt. Clements, MI; ten grandchildren, James Spellman, Kaitlain Saville, Philip Saville, Joan Saville, Sam Spellman, Grace Spellman, Stefano Del Serone, Shannon McNamee, Christine Hammons, and James (Stacy) Cooley; great-grandchildren, Gage Seffernick, Gavin Seffernick, Ashton Briem, Braedon Hammons, Mariah Saville, Tristen Manley, Emma Cooley, Makenna Cooley, Megan Cooley,  Andrew Cooley and Marlie Saville; great-great-grandchildren, Xander and Laikin Seffernick; a sister-in-law, Helen N. Bockey, and her sons, Timothy and Michael.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Louis Bockey and a sister, Marilyn Bockey Guin.

Mr. Bockey worked at Bockey Motor Sales for over 40 years with his father John and his uncle Frank Will. In 1969 Bob became the sole owner. He was the youngest dealer in the U.S. selling Pontiacs. Bob retired in 1990. In the summer months he spent his time at his summer home in Michigan fishing and boating. Bob also loved flying his plane. For many years he flew back and forth to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to the cottage. He was a lifetime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was also a member of the VFW Post 3035, American Legion, and the Delphos Eagles Aerie 471.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 17 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery with military graveside rites by Delphos Veterans Council.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m.  Preferred memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Parish Foundation or Allen County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be shared at www.weberfh.net.
