Robert "Bob" Sickels Obituary

Robert F. “Bob” Sickels passed away Sunday night September 5, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on October 29, 1943 in Lima to Russell F. and Amelia(Pinkos) Sickels who preceded him in death. He married Marilyn Hoehn on August 26, 1967 and she survives in Delphos.

Bob is survived by his children; Doug(Cheryl) Sickels of Ft. Jennings, and Jodi Sickels Ladd of Delphos. He is also survived by two sisters; Sue Weiss of Lima and Marian Sickels Lewis of Delphos, two sisters-in-law; Rosemary Hoehn and Angie Hoehn of Delphos, and a brother-in-law Ed Bailey of Delphos. Five grandchildren; Kegan(Elizabeth), Colin, and Logan(Tori) Sickels,  Lauren and Braden Ladd, three great grandchildren; Violet, Oliver, Amelia, and one on the way.

Bob is preceded in death by his sister and brother –in-law Barbara(Frank) Nomina, two brothers-in-law; Harold and Don Hoehn and a sister-in-law Geri Bailey.

Bob had been a machinist at Fruehauf in Delphos for 33 years, and at White New Idea in Celina and Marathon Electric in Lima. He was an Army Veteran of the Viet Nam War serving in Okinawa. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a member V.F.W. Post 3035 and The American Legion Post 268 both in Delphos. Bob was a huge NASCAR fan, #3 Forever, attended races and enjoyed visiting NASCAR halls of fame. He loved cars; driving, cleaning, and maintaining them, it was an obsession. He played on the Rustic Softball team, coached girls softball in his younger days and was always at the liars table at Jim’s for lunch. He was a true Blue Jay, Brown’s, Buckeye, and Red’s fan. He loved his dogs Boozer and Scruffy. Above all else Bob was a truly loving and devoted husband and father, he especially adored his grandkids and great grandkids. He was true friend to all.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Military Rites will be conducted after mass by the Delphos Veteran’s Council. Burial will be at a later date.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday September 9, 2021 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St. Delphos, where a parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to; The Wounded Warrior Project, St. Jude’s, or the St. John Athletic Boosters.
