Richard J. ‘Rick’ Recker, 59, of Delphos, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 11, 2021, at his home with his loving family at his side.
He was born January 1, 1962 in Lima to Leonard and Priscilla A. (Leist) Recker, who both preceded him in death. On November 10, 1984, he married Barbara Nomina, who survives in Delphos.
Rick is also survived by his daughters, Nicole Recker and Tiffany (Luke) Price, both of Delphos; a Granddaughter, Remington Rose Price; six brothers, Steve (Lisa) Recker of Delphos, Anthony (Kelly) Recker of Ft. Jennings, Gerard Recker of Fremont, Christopher (Sheila) Recker of Chambersburg, PA, Phillip Recker of St. Petersburg, FL, Andrew (Megan) Recker of Hudson; and four sisters, Barbara (Donald) Haggard of Delphos, Geralyn Larson of Paulding, Janet Foust of Delphos, and Julie (Stoney) Beair of Grover Hill.
Rick drove semi for I&K Distributors for 28 years, and cooked many years for Lock Sixteen Catering in Ottoville, and Dick’s Steak House in Kalida. He also cooked for weddings at the K of C Hall. His most enjoyable hobby was cooking BBQ chicken and ribs on his homemade pit and making his secret BBQ sauce. Collecting Budweiser Steins and mugs was also one of Rick’s hobbies. His first mug was from his grandfather at the age of five for his birthday. He volunteered at the Interfaith Thrift Shop with his sister and daughter, Nicole. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, volunteering as a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie #471. Rick was an avid Blue Jay fan. He cherished spending time with family and friends. His two year old granddaughter stole his heart.
In memory of Rick, his family would like people who know someone with cancer to reach out to them with a call, visit, a meal, or even to give them a ride to an appointment. They greatly appreciated everyone who helped them in any way.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 16, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
