Richard "Dick" A. Elwer

Richard "Dick"A. Elwer, age 94 Years, passed away October 19, 2016, at 4:07 pm, at the Van Crest Health Care Center of Delphos. Dick was born September 11, 1922 in Delphos, OH, to Albinus J. and Theresa (Wrasman) Elwer who preceded him in death. On May 7, 1946 he married Pauline J. (Ricker) Elwer who preceded him in death on November 1, 1990. Dick was a self-employed farmer for 76 years. In 2012, he served as the Grand Marshall of the Canal Days Parade as the oldest farmer. Dick was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles both in Delphos. Dick is survived by a son, Ronald R. (Cheryl) Elwer of Van Wert, OH and a daughter, Suzanne T. (Tim) Knott of Bluffton, OH, four grandchildren; Tricia (David) Kulwicki, Matthew (Deven) Elwer, Alan (Lisa) Knott and Michael (Gina) Knott, seven great-grandchildren; Macy and Josie Kulwicki, Tyler and Reese Elwer, Lilly, Andrew and Vyla Knott, a brother in law, Omer Pothast and a close companion, Avonelle Burgei. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph (Viola) Elwer, two sisters; Beatrice "Bea" (Leo) Fischer and Rita Pothast, two brothers in-law; Virgil (Angela) Ricker and Paul Ricker. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 24, 2016 at 11:00 am at the St. John's Catholic Church. Officiating the mass will be Fr. George Mahas. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery following the Mass. Friends may call on Sunday at the WEBER FUNERAL HOME in Delphos from 2-6 pm. Following the visitation a rosary service will be held at the funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice.
