Paul E. Meyer, 81, of rural Elida, passed away on August 25, 2022, at The Meadows of Delphos.
Paul was born at home, in rural Middle Point on March 23, 1941, to Leonard and Mary Elizabeth (Klaus) Meyer, who preceded him in death. He was a 1959 graduate of Delphos St. John's High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Fort Snelling-LSD 30.
On August 4, 1961, he married Virginia (Ginny) Kimmet of Spencerville who preceded him in death on December 21, 2011.
He is survived by their 4 children, Paul Andrew (Cheryl) Meyer of Anna, Lisa (Steven) Heitmeyer of King George, Virginia, Kelly (Jeffrey) Pratt of Lima and Linda Danielle Eley of Delphos. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Meghan (Bryant) Mowen of Anna and Christopher Meyer of Sidney, Nicole (Christopher) Robertson of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Kimberly Heitmeyer of Canton, Michigan, Dr. Nicholas (Olivia) Pratt of New Haven, Connecticut and Kaityn Pratt of Lima and Sydney Eley of Toledo.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Tristan Ann Eley and his grandson, Carter Jeffrey Pratt.
Paul is also survived by his siblings, Lucian (Lou) Linda Meyer of Wapakoneta, Marie Meyer and Jeanne Meyer of St. Marys.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Francis (Frank) Meyer, Michael Meyer, John Meyer and Christopher Meyer.
On June 15, 2012, he married Esther (Schmersal) Spangler, Furry who survives in Elida. He is also survived by Esther's children, grandchildren and siblings.
Paul ran an Omar Bread route early in his career, and retired from Fruehauf Trailer Corp, Delphos. He enjoyed woodworking, puzzles and reading books.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 14, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home located at 1840 E. 5th Street Delphos with a Catholic Ladies of Columbus Council 84 memorial service beginning at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Parish Wake.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos. Burial will immediately follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Delphos with graveside military honors conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council. Online condolences may be shared at www.weberfh.net.
