Norma M. Hesseling, 84, of Delphos, passed away Monday morning, July 5, 2021, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s.
She was born December 24, 1936 in Ottoville to Mellitus and Leona (Kroeger) Schimmoeller, who both preceded her in death. On November 30, 1957 she married Norman J. Hesseling who preceded her in death on January 27, 2018. Norma had been married to her beloved husband for 60 years.
Norma is survived by two sons, Dale E. Hesseling of Delphos and Alan G. Hesseling of Columbia City, Indiana; four daughters, Joyce Perry of Lima, Karen (Wade) DeVelvis of Cloverdale, Diane Bowers of Delphos, and Jan Draime of Massillon; a brother, Gerald (Nancy) Schimmoeller of North Andover, Massachusetts; two sisters, Carolyn Maag of Columbus Grove and Kay (Donald) Meyer of Ft. Jennings; two grandsons, Sean (Ashley) Perry and Jacob Draime; seven granddaughters, Jessica (Toby) Bidlack, Cindy (Trent Langley) DeVelvis, Jayme (Greg) Jones, Brooke (Anissa Kingsley) Bowers, Stephenie Bowers, and Amanda Draime; eleven great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jackson and Shaylen Bidlack, Cecilia Latimer, Mason Langely, Hannah-Grace and Emma Perry, Samantha and Madilyn Jones, Brayden and Aria Clark; and three sisters-in-law, Eileen Suever of Middle Point, Alice (Robert) Rayman of Romeoville, Illinois, and Lois (Rodney) Wurst of McCormick, S. Carolina.
She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Norman Maag, Ervin Hesseling, sister-in-law, Rita Clapp
Norma was a homemaker and had worked eleven years at Delphos Memorial Manor. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Norma was an avid reader and had a great interest in genealogy. She loved to travel, having visited all 50 states, and Italy, Mexico and Canada.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 9, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Dennis Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour before the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
