Mary Ellen Gerdeman Obituary

Mary Ellen Gerdeman, 85, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Meadows of Delphos.

She was born December 31, 1936, in Delphos, the second youngest in a family of ten children, to the late Theodore and Margaret (Korb) Gerdeman. Mary Ellen never married, but came from a large family.

Mary Ellen is survived by three siblings, Bernard Gerdeman of Ft. Jennings, Dorothy (Elton) Lamy of Cincinnati and Joan (Robert) Ricker of Delphos; and a sister-in-law, Marty Gerdeman of Ottoville. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, too many to mention.

She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Rose Ann (Harold) Friedrich, Lenore Gerdeman, Alice (Louis) Quinter, Marie (William) Swick, Jane (William) Fairfax and Eugene Gerdeman; and sister-in-law, Marie Gerdeman.

Her nieces and nephews meant a lot to her. She was thankful to have David as her care giver and angel in her life; as well as Dennis, Jill and Jane who provided her with much love and care.

Mary Ellen was a graduate of Delphos St. John’s and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She retired from G.C. Murphy Store after 25 years. She continued to work at several local establishments, The Delphos Food Locker and Pizza Hut, to name a few. Many knew her as she walked all of her life to places of employment in Delphos.

Mary Ellen loved anything Christmas, enjoyed buying and wrapping gifts for everyone. She also enjoyed listening to St. John’s football and basketball games. She belonged to a group of pen pals all across the country. They met once a year. She thoroughly enjoyed sending and receiving letters.
