Linda Garverick Baker, age 78, of Delphos, passed away Sunday, March 13, at The Meadows Nursing Home in Delphos, Ohio.
She was born April 29, 1943, in Coshocton, Ohio to the late Alfred Webster and Anna Louise (Wolfe) Garverick.
Linda is survived by a son, Jim Baker; daughter, Shelly Baker; a sister-in-law, Loretta Garverick; a grandson and a granddaughter, a niece and a nephew, and two great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Jim Garverick; a sister, Diana Neff; and a nephew, Dennis Neff.
Linda received her Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees from Bowling Green State University. Before coming to Delphos in 1980, she had taught in Bucyrus and Lorain. Linda retired as the librarian/media specialist at Delphos Jefferson High School in 2008. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served on the Mission Committee volunteering at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen and also sang in the choir for 30 years. Linda was a Trustee for the Delphos Canal Commission where she volunteered at the Delphos Canal Commission Museum located at 241 N. Main Street for years. She was also a long time member of The Lincoln Highway Association. Linda was honored as the 2015 Delphos Herald Tri-County Woman of the Year.
Linda was a good soul, volunteer and avid reader who kept her mind sharp. She enjoyed traveling, researching history, and solving Sudoku and jigsaw puzzles. Linda especially loved people, animals and most of all, she loved her family.
It was Linda’s wishes to be cremated with no services. Burial will be at a later date in Iberia Cemetery, Iberia, Ohio.
