He was born August 4, 1939, in Delphos to the late Albert H. and Helen (Heising) Martin. On July 1, 1963, he married Rita (Landwehr) Martin who survives in Delphos.

John was a member of the Army National Guard for six years. He worked at Middle Point Elevator for 15 years and then went to work for National Seal/Federal Mogul retiring in 2001. He helped with farming for the Friedrichs and Nominas for over 20 years. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where he had volunteered as a greeter. John enjoyed gambling and casino trips for many years. For 28 years they spent a lot of time camping at Huggy Bear. He enjoyed get togethers with friends for card parties. John was very proud of his blue Chevy truck that he owned for over 26 years. He never met a stranger. In retirement he could be found in the mornings at Jim’s for breakfast.
