Jane Margaret (O’Neill) Altman, 85, of Delphos, passed away Sunday evening, December 26, 2021, at The Meadows of Delphos, with her loving family by her side..
She was born February 15, 1936, in Delphos, to Winfield and Margaret (Burger) O’Neill, who both preceded her in death. On August 17, 1957, she married Barney E. Altman, who survives in Delphos. Barney and Jane were sweethearts since sixth grade and were married 64 years.
Jane is survived by three sons, Dan (Rhonda) Altman and Tim (Stephanie) Altman, both of Delphos, and Michael Altman of Middletown; two daughters, Sue (Todd) Miller of Dunedin, FL, and Becky Sassatelli of Sebring; a sister, Sheila Bohn of Lima; seven grandchildren, Brandon (Jen) Altman, Jamie (Steve) Wiechart, Katrina (Michael) Kill, Melina (Ian) Wetherall, Tyler Miller, Jonathon Sassatelli and Katelyn Sassatelli; four great-grandchildren, Riley and Jackson Wiechart, Evelyn Kill and Rylin Wetherall.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Winfield O’Neill Jr.; and a sister, Kathleen Wishmeyer.
Jane was a 1954 graduate of Delphos St. John’s, and a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She had worked at O’Neill’s Market from seventh grade until her dad passed away in 1958. She went on to work at Pangles Grocery and then Drapery Stitch where she had worked 29 years. She spent her retirement years volunteering at the Delphos Thrift Store.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Father Tony Vera will be officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Parish Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
