James V. ‘Jim’ Geckle, 80, of Ft. Jennings, passed away Wednesday morning, November 9, 2022 at The Meadows of Delphos.
He was born September 22, 1942, in Lima to the late Albert and Rosina (Mack) Geckle. On August 6, 1977, he married Patricia ‘Pat’ (Pohlman) Geckle, who died November 14, 2021.
Jim is survived by a daughter, Denise Geckle of Ft. Jennings; a son, David (Rachel) Geckle of Maumee; a sister, Susan (Ralph) Trentman of Delphos; in-laws Glenda Geckle of Ottawa and JoAnn (Melvin) Nomina of Glandorf; and two grandchildren, Allison and Ryan Geckle.
Besides his loving wife, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Geckle.
Jim worked as a mechanic at Schroeder Tractor Sales in Columbus Grove before leaving to follow his true passion of farming, which he never fully ‘retired’ from. He was proud to have served as a Jennings Township Trustee for 28 years. He also served as president and board member of Jennings-Gomer Equity and as president and charter member of the Ft. Jennings Lions Club. He was a member and active volunteer at St. Joseph Catholic Church as well as a community volunteer throughout the village. The most important thing to Jim was his family, especially his grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at The Meadows of Delphos, Community Health Professionals, St. Rita’s Medical Center and others who provided care for Jim over the last several years.
