Howard G. Klaus, 81, of Venedocia died at 3:19 p.m. on April 1, 2022, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s.
He was born October 12, 1940, on the family farm in Venedocia to Frank A. and Helen (Freund) Klaus who both preceded him in death. On April 18, 1964, he married Eileen Holdgreve, who survives. They would have been married 58 years. Howard always told Eileen she was the best thing that ever happened to him.
Howard is also survived by two children, Christine (Eric) Greer and Dan Klaus, both of Venedocia; four grandchildren, Christopher (Jessica) Greer, Shelby (Ben) Jackson and Lydia and Alexandra Greer. He is also survived by his two brothers, Edward (Therese) Klaus of Delphos and Keith (Peggy) Klaus of Huntsville, Alabama.
He is also preceded in death by his siblings, Pat Brandehoff, Tom Klaus, Charlie Klaus and Clara Giesken.
Howard was born, raised and was still living and working the family farm in Venedocia. He was 1959 graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School. He was a very devoted member of St. John the Baptist Church in Landeck, volunteering his time and talents to the many ongoing projects and fundraising activities at the church. Family and farming were his life. He was a very loving, caring, devoted husband, dad, and papaw to his family.
A funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday April 7, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Landeck. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St, Delphos, where a parish wake service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Howard’s family is asking that all his friends and family dress casually for both the visitation and funeral.
