Dr. Morris Obituary

Dr. Burl G. Morris, 96, of Delphos, passed away Tuesday morning, December 15, 2020, at Mercy Health St. Rita's. He was born October 25, 1924 in Leipsic to the late James and Leora (Cain) Morris. On October 8, 1946, he married Marietta L. (Ellerbrock) Morris. Burl is survived by the love of his life, and wife of 74 years, Marietta. He is also survived by his children, Steven B. Morris of Palmetto, Florida; Roger A. (Tricia) Morris, Regina S. (Larry) McClure, Daniel L. (Rose Anne) Morris, Larry J. (Melanie) Morris, Thomas R. (Mary) Morris, all of Delphos, and Ronald E. (Cyndee) Morris, of Lima; 20 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; a son-in-law, Bob LeHew of Mansfield; and a brother, Earl (Marge) Morris of Delphos. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Roselyn J. LeHew; brothers, Paul (Helen) Morris, Clifford (Jessie) Morris, George (Darlene) Morris, and Richard (Patricia) Morris; and a sister, Wilma (Rolley) Ruskey. Burl served in WWII as a corpsman in a naval hospital September 1943 and then aboard an LST in the South Pacific until May 1946. Burl graduated from Palmer School of Chiropractic January 1952. He was the founding member of Morris Chiropractic Clinic and retired in 1998. Dr. Burl served as the president of the Ohio Chiropractic Society and was instrumental in the formation of the present Ohio State Chiropractic Association. For ten years, Dr. Burl served as the OSCA's Bureau of Worker's Compensation Chairman with multiple service awards. Dr. Morris was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus as a Third and Fourth Degree. Burl also held memberships to the Delphos Rotary Club, Ohio State Chiropractic Association, the National Chiropractic Association, the Lima Elks, Eagles Aerie 370, the Delphos Club, American Legion and the Delphos Country Club. Burl loved to play golf. He immensely enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and loved attending all their birthday parties. A public Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Military honors will be conducted by the Delphos Veterans Council following the mass at church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. A private visitation will be held for the immediate family. Arrangements are entrusted to Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Parish Foundation, the Smile Train Charity, or to the Ohio Chiropractic Foundation. Online condolences may be shared at www.weberfh.net.
