Dennis J. Thines, 79 of Delphos and formerly of Ottoville, passed away on Sunday morning, August 11, 2013 at the St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. His Family...He was born on October 10, 1933 in Ottoville, Ohio to the late George "John" and Josephine (Schimmoller) Thines. He was formerly married to Roz Kill and she survives in Naples, Florida. He is also survived by their three children, Shawn (Pam Wilson) Thines of Delphos, Michelle (Greg) Ryan of Charleston, South Carolina, and Timothy Thines of Delphos; six grandchildren, Mishaun, Charmiane, and Michael Thines, Shaleeni, Karuna, and Akira Ryan; a sister, Janette (Robert) Fischer of North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Armella Martz, Deloris Hempfling, and Valeta Stallkamp. His Legacy...Dennis graduated from Ottoville High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1956-1958. He retired after 27 years of service from Kill Brothers Company of Delphos. He also worked at Orick Tool & Die of Elida for many years. He was a member of the V.F.W Post 3035 and Eagles Aerie 471, both of Delphos, as well as a lifetime member of the Lima Elks Lodge 54. His Farewell Services...Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at Strayer Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos with military honors accorded by the Delphos Veterans Council at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends and family are invited to the Delphos V.F.W for a toast to Dennis's life after the military honors.
