DELPHOS
Charles N.”Chuck” Ardner, 93, of Delphos passed away Thursday morning, July 13, 2023 at Vancrest of Delphos surrounded by his children.
He was born in Delphos on December 6, 1929 to Henry and Edna(Knittle) Ardner and they preceded him in death.
On September 2, 1950 he married Helen M.(Kindley) who passed on June, 4, 2023. They shared 72 beautiful years of marriage.
Chuck is survived by two sons, Larry Ardner of Copley and Kevin(Kelly) Ardner of Delphos; four daughters, Sharon Hess of Rushsylvania, Mary Lynn(Richard Bolander) VanDerVeer of Mount Blanchard, Elaine(Gary) Rode of Landeck and Julie(Kevin) Knebel of Delphos; 16 grandchildren, 25 great- grandchildren and two step-greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Ruthella Foust and Thelma Miller; a brother-in-law, Robert Kindley; daughter-in-law, Lenore Ardner; and a great- grandchild, Aiden.
Chuck was employed with Bushong Ford, which changed hands to Bob Dunn Ford and then to Statewide Ford in Van Wert, OH for 50 years as a parts manager. He always had a passion for gardening and woodworking, where he spent many hours in his wood shop in his basement. He was a member of the Ray McKowen Council 1362 Knights of Columbus, Delphos, the St. John Athletic Boosters, Delphos Senior Citizens, where he served on their Board of Directors. Chuck was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, where he was a money counter and was passionate about cleaning the holy water fountain after every mass. Above all else Chuck loved spending time with his family.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 17, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00p.m. on Sunday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a K. of C. Rosary will be said at 5:45 p.m. followed by a Parish Wake Service to be held at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delphos Senior Citizens Center.
