Carol Ann (Kohls) Hohman, age 84 of Delphos passed away August 23 at the Meadows of Delphos. She was born January 21, 1938 in Lima to Clarence and Bertha (Fischer) Kohls, who both preceded her in death. On November 6, 1965 she married Louis R. Hohman of Delphos who survives her.
Carol is also survived by seven children, David (Marty) Hohman of Van Wert, Amy (David) Kurt of Valparaiso, IN, Daniel (Kim) Hohman of Van Wert, Anne (John) Wolfer of Loveland, Douglas (Michelle) Hohman of Perrysburg, Darin (Jennifer) Hohman of Delphos and Drew (Erin) Hohman of Lewis Center; twenty-one grandchildren, Lindsey (Andrew) Whitcomb, Joshua and Jackson Hohman, Isaac (Schyler) Kurt, Emma (Clark) Bilbrey, Aubrey, Ellie, Alaina and Elijah Kurt, Kylie, Carter and Kaden Hohman, Ronan and Keene Wolfer, Kathryn, Ethan and Megan Hohman, Henry, Maxwell and Eva Hohman and Ridley Hohman; a sister, Barbara Sanders of Findlay; and many brothers and sisters-in-law.
Carol was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Kohls; and a granddaughter, Lauren Frey.
Carol graduated from Glandorf High School in 1956. She worked as a secretary at Marathon Oil in Findlay before taking on her most important role as a mother. Carol devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a patient woman who always had her famous chocolate chip cookies waiting for her family. Carol was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. She spent her time praying for family, friends and strangers as a prayer group member of Shepherds of Christ Associates. Carol found time to volunteer at the Interfaith Thrift Shop and St. John’s Church and School, where she could be found in the kitchen during functions like the Church Festival and Bingo. She also served on the school board at St. John’s. Carol had a smile for everyone and never turned down ice cream. She was an amazing woman who will be truly missed by her family and many friends.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Chris Bohnsack and Father Dennis Walsh as concelebrants. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a K of C Rosary will be held at 7:45 p.m. followed by a Parish Wake Service. Visitation will also be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Alzheimer’s Association or St. John's Parish Foundation.
