Tony Closson

DELPHOS

Tony Closson age 58, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s.

He was born on September 11, 1968 in Lima to Roger and Anna Jayne (Hittle) Closson who preceded him in death. On July 16, 1994 he married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Sharon (Metzger) Closson who survives in Lima. From this blessed union he and Sharon had two children; Trent and Sara who preceded him in death.

Tony is survived by his two brothers, Jeff (Julie) Closson of Delphos, Matt Closson of Celina, a sister Jennifer (Kurt) Meier of St. Marys, his father -in- law Paul Metzger of Delphos, his in-laws, Tim (Jody Rein) Metzger of Loveland, CO, Annette Youngpeter of Delphos, and his Godson Luca Meyer.

Tony was also preceded in death by his mother -in- law Dorothy Metzger.

Tony was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson, attended the Ohio State University and graduated from DeVry University. He worked for many years in the maintenance department of Mercy Health St. Rita’s as an employee of CBRE.

Tony loved the Lord deeply and lived his life as a faithful servant of God. He believed that his purpose here on earth was to serve his heavenly Father. His faith was at the center of who he was, and he cherished reading and studying the Bible.

He found great joy in helping others and was always willing to lend a hand whenever someone was in need. He also enjoyed having a project to work on.

Above all, he looked forward to the day when his earthly journey would be complete and he could go home to Heaven to be with his Eternal Father. He also looked forward with great anticipation to being reunited with his children, Trent and Sara, in Heaven. His faith gave him peace, and his love for the Lord was evident in the way he lived his life and cared for others.

A funeral mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, Rev. Jeff Walker officiating. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Friends may call on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a parish wake service to be held at 7:45 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home. 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos. Memorial Contributions in Tony’s memory can be made to the Delphos St. John School Library.
