Thomas E. Groves, 71 of Delphos passed away on Tuesday afternoon, May 28, 2013 at the St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. His Family...He was born on February 10, 1942 in Delphos, Ohio to the late Harry and Golda (Link) Groves. He was formerly married to Nancy (Hawk) Rosen and she survives in Delphos. He is also survived by two sons, Barry (Victoria) Groves of Roseville, Michigan and Brandon Groves of Delphos; a daughter, Stephanie Groves of Delphos; a grandson, Isaiah Groves of Roseville, Michigan; children of long-time companion, Deborah Meister; Tricia (Rudy) Guerrero, Sarah (Robert) Ruiz, Hope (Marc) Wright, Charity Meister, and James Meister. He was preceded in death by the love of his live, Deborah Meister and her son, Jared. His Legacy...Tom graduated from Delphos Jefferson High School in 1960 and was a member of the Wildcat marching, concert, and commencement bands. He attended Ohio Northern University's School of Pharmacy for 2 years. Later he acquired an insurance license and became the sole owner of Groves Insurance Agency. He was a member of several Delphos civic organizations including the Jaycees, Kiwanis, and Council #72 Royal and Select Masons as well as the Spencerville Chapter #169 Royal Arch Masons. He was a Past Lodge Education Officer and Master Mason of Hope Lodge #214. Tom was an avid tennis player, cyclist, hunter/shooter and all-around lover of the outdoors. He was a wordsmith, W.W. II military buff, and a perennial student of life. He was an all-around good guy who loved to socialize and did not know a stranger. He played the drums for Stevely Brass, which later became the Band Box Boys. His Farewell Services...Visitation will be from 12:00 -4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Strayer Funeral Home, 1840 E.
