Sondra Sue Ebbeskotte

Sondra Sue Ebbeskotte, 78, of Delphos, passed away Sunday afternoon, December 15, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family after a courageous second battle with cancer. She was born October 3, 1941 in Lima to Harold Emrick and Rowena (Good) Emrick, who both preceded her in death. On July 21, 1962 she married the love of her life, Norbert Ebbeskotte, who survives in Delphos. Sondra is survived by a son, Bob Ebbeskotte of Delphos; four daughters, Cindy Metzger of Delphos, Diana (Eddie) Keirns of Ohio City, Nancy (Jay) DeWitt of Delphos, and Tammy (Craig) Prenger of Versailles; two brothers, David (Mary Ann) Emrick of London, Ohio, and Gary Emrick of Berryville, Virginia; a sister, Linda (Gary) Hollar of Elida; 12 grandchildren, Sean, Adam, Curt and Stephanie Metzger, Craig Syphrit, Shannon Glover, Troy Syphrit, Jason, Andrew and Tony DeWitt, Cassie Prenger, and Courtney Moorehead; and 16 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her aunt, Elnora Emrick. Sondra attended school in Waynesfield, and then went on to graduate from Shawnee High School, and Northwestern Business College. She had worked at McDonald's and Rite Aid. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She had helped in the Mom's room over the years. It was their competing against each other at the Allen County Fair and Ohio State Fair that her love af-"fair" with Norbert began. Sondra was president of Allen County Porkettes. She was a 4-H leader for 10 years, secretary of Ohio Hampshire Breeders Association for four years, was an Allen County Pork Queen, and a member of Delphos Young Farm Wives. Norbert and Sondra were inducted into the Ohio State Fair Swine Hall of Fame. They had travelled many miles delivering hogs for many years. They also held hog sales at the farm and at fairgrounds around the state. Sondra was especially proud to be a farm wife for 57 years, and raising five wonderful kids. She enjoyed following them around to all their activities, and then did the same with her grandkids. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Father Tony Vera officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Health Professionals - Hospice.
