Ruth ‘Sis’ Schimmoeller, 87, of Delphos, beloved wife, mom, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Tuesday evening, January 28, 2025 at The Meadows of Delphos.
She was born April 27, 1937 in Ottoville to Cyril and Evelyn (Seymour) Horstman, who both preceded her in death. She was married to Tom Koester who preceded her in death December 12, 1973. On May 2, 1975 she married Thomas O. Schimmoeller who survives in Delphos.
Her memory will live on in her children: two daughters, Tammy (Dave) Bergfeld and Shelly (Mike) Kayser; a brother, John (Sue) Horstman; sister-in-law, Sharon Horstman; five grandchildren, Jamie (Randy) Grothaus, Julie (Greg) Renner, Eric Bergfeld, Wes (Rachel) Kayser and Molly (Colin) Armstrong; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joe Horstman.
Sis was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Sis’s greatest love was being with family and making memories. She was our sunshine and always loved singing that song to all the grandkids. She cherished our family times at the lake. She shared her love for Mary and Jesus. Her strength was an inspiration to her family. She loved her flower garden and the beauty of nature, especially bird watching. She also gave back to the community and volunteered at the Thrift Shop for 30 years.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 1 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delphos Thrift Store. Online condolences may be shared at www.weberfh.net.
