Roger Lee Diltz

Roger Lee Diltz, 89, of Delphos, passed away Monday evening, July 14, 2025 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s.

He was born December 29, 1935 in Delphos to Ira and Opal (Carmean) Diltz who both preceded him in death. On June 12, 1954 he married Shirley (Hile) Diltz who survives in Delphos.

Roger is also survived by his children, Vicky Friemoth, Karen Schaffner, Cheryl (Dan) Lehmkuhle, Mark Diltz, Randy Diltz, Jim (Diane) Diltz, Candy Brooks, Lyle Diltz and Misty (Brad Slechter) Bowers, all of Delphos; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. He was also survived by many other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Justin Diltz; sisters, Fairy Etta (George) Sterling and Dorothy (Cross) Kolter; sons-in-law, Mick Schaffner and Dale Brooks; daughter-in-law, Marcia Diltz; and granddaughter, Tiffany Bowers.

Roger was retired from Trim Trends in Spencerville where he had worked 34 years. He was a member of Delphos VFW, Eagles Aerie 471 and Spencerville VFW. He loved gardening, country music and cruising through Marbletown on his scooter. Everyone will remember Roger as a jokester.

A funeral service will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 17 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth Street, Delphos. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be before the service Thursday from 11:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be shared at weberfh.net.
