ROBERT J. RICKER, 89, of Delphos, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 1, 2024 at the Meadows of Delphos. He was born, August 1, 1934 in Toledo.  His parents were Eugene and Irene Ricker, both deceased.  He is survived by his wife, Joan whom he married on May 5, 1962; a son, Kelly (Melissa Page) Ricker; and his grandchildren, Danielle (Trevor) Howery and Travis (Jessica Spinnati) Ricker.  He is also survived by three beautiful great-granddaughters, Olivia Ricker, who always put a smile on his face, and identical twins born September 12, 2023, Morgan and Cameron.

Also surviving are his step-grandchildren, Samantha Londo, Kiera and Koby Page; his step-great-grandchildren, Aniyah, Adelynn and Douglas Howery and Riley Allen.

He is survived by his sister Eugenia “Genie” (John) Kehres; sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Elton) Lamy and Marty Gerdeman; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas (Gerrie) Ricker; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Harold and Rose Ann Friedrich, Louis and Alice Quinter, William and Marie Swick, Lenore Gerdeman, Eugene Gerdeman, Bernard and Marie Gerdeman, William and Jane Fairfax, and Mary Ellen Gerdeman; and three nieces, Kathleen, Kris and Lisa.

In Robert’s teen years, he worked as a lifeguard at the Delphos Swimming Pool, and was an accomplished diver. He graduated from Delphos St John’s High School. He was a law enforcement officer with the Delphos Police Department and later with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.  He retired from the Ford Motor Company.

Bob loved to feed and watch birds. He was an avid car enthusiast and “hot rodder” in his youth. He had the privilege to sit at the Liars Table at Jim’s Restaurant daily. He and Joan loved their trips to Gatlinburg.

Visitation for Mr. Ricker will be Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. His Memorial Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth Street Delphos.  Interment of ashes will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions can be made to the St. John’s Teachers Endowment Fund or to the donor’s choice.
