Rick Joseph Burgei

Rick Joseph Burgei, 65, of Delphos, passed away Tuesday morning, July 16, 2024 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s.

He was born August 11, 1958 in Lima to Jerome and Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Burgei who preceded him in death. On September 10, 1983 he married Barbara (Merschman) Burgei who survives in Delphos.

Also surviving are his sons, Nathan and Jonathan Burgei; brothers, Robb (Sherry) Burgei of Delphos, Russ (Bonnie) Burgei of Pinckney, MI, and Randy Burgei of Scottsdale, AZ.

Rick was known across the region for his voice on the morning talk show at WDOH where he strived to make everyone laugh. He was very active in the community, coaching Little League baseball for many years. Christmas was also a special time of the year for him as he spent nearly 50 years helping Santa deliver presents to the children of Delphos every Christmas Eve. For his work for the community, he was the Tri-County Man of the Year for 2016-2017. In his free time, he was an avid painter, specifically working with lighthouses. He loved to be on his boat, The Avenger, with his family catching walleye and perch on Lake Erie at Port, Clinton.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 20 and 2:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 21 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.  Online condolences may be shared at weberfh.net.
