Richard J. Honigford

Richard J. ‘Dick' Honigford, 91, of Landeck, passed away Saturday evening, January 2, 2021, at his home. He was born December 30, 1929 in Ottoville to the late Clem and Bertha (Weber) Honigford. On September 26, 1953, he married Dolores ‘Dolly' J. Grothouse. Dick is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dolly Honigford of Landeck. He is also survived by a son, Kenneth (Jami) Honigford of Monroeville; two daughters, Barb Ebbeskotte, and Carol Ricker, both of Delphos; a daughter-in-law, Sue Honigford of Delphos; two sisters, Marilyn Walsh of Lima, and Betty Wannamacher of Elida; 11 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Honigford; a son-in-law, Louis Ebbeskotte; a grandson, Jason Ebbeskotte; a sister, Dorothy Fuerst; and three brothers, Paul, Harold and Jerry Honigford; and an infant brother, Joseph Honigford. Dick retired from Scot Lad Foods in 1991, after working there for 30 years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knight of Columbus Council 1362, and the VFW Post 3035. Dick was an avid horseshoe player, being a member of the Horseshoe Pitchers Association and their Hall of Fame. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, and all kind of sports. He loved being involved and spending time with his kids and grandkids. A Funeral Mass for the public will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 7 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Landeck. The Rev. Dennis Walsh will be officiating. Graveside military rites will be conducted by The Delphos Veterans Council following the Mass at the Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A private visitation will be held Wednesday evening at Weber Funeral Home, Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
