Rebecca Ann Wiechart

DELPHOS – Rebecca Ann Wiechart, age 70, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022, at her residence.

She was born June 16, 1951 in Lima to Ralph and Doris (Grothouse) Klausing who both preceded her in death. On April 29, 1972 she married Chuck Wiechart, who survives.

Rebecca is survived by three children, Brad (Shelby) Wiechart of St. Marys, Lori (James) Gerken of Taos, New Mexico and Steve (Jamie) Wiechart of Delphos; eight grandchildren, Kayla (Josh) Frantz, Tanner, Preston, Parker, Sylvia, Marlena, Ava, Riley and Jackson Wiechart; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Amelia and Gabriella; and a brother-in-law, Don Ream of Elida. Preceding Rebecca in death were an infant brother, and sister, Beverly Ream.

Rebecca was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Delphos.  She graduated from St. Rita’s School of Nursing and then went on to work for St. Rita’s Hospital as an LPN for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Mother’s Club and actively involved in the Delphos community volunteering her time, talent and treasure.  Not known to be an out-front volunteer, she was a quiet and dependable person who worried more about others than herself, often putting others needs before her own. Spending time and traveling with the Elwer and the Hedrick families was a cherished memory for her.  Rebecca was a loyal and dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.  She cherished her grandchildren and never missed anything the kids and grandkids were involved in.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 1. at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Parish Foundation
