DELPHOS – Omer V. Ricker, age 91, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born February 21, 1935 in Ottoville to the late Joseph W. and Elenora (Miller) Ricker. On October 24, 1959 he married Alice (Osting) Ricker, and she survives, they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage in two weeks.
Omer is survived by his daughters, Shirley (Larry) Hammond of Delphos and Jan (Bill) Warnecke of Delphos; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Ricker of Ottoville He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alissa (Shaun) Fitzgibbons, Traci (Nick) Miller, Wesley (Devon) Warnecke, Troy (Lindsy) Warnecke and Cody (McKenzie) Warnecke; great-grandchildren, Calvin and Clare Fitzgibbons, Sheldon, Marin, Anselm, Allegra, Sylvia, Gisela, and Alphonsus Miller, Hayden, Isla, Kendall Warnecke, Eleanor, Adeline Warnecke, Victor and Evelyn Warnecke.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ambrose (Loretta) Ricker, George Ricker and an infant brother, Arnold; and sisters, Marciel (Virgil) Bellman, Adeline (Irvin) Pohlman, Margaret (James) Schimmoeller and Jeanette` (Robert) Brickner.
In 1957, Omer went to work for Frito Lay Co. introducing Fritos to a six- county area, retiring after 35 years. After retirement he sold real estate for ten years. He was a member of the United States Army Reserves for six years. He was a member of Ft. Jennings Lions, Knights of Columbus Council 1362, Eagles Aerie 471 and Ft. Jennings American Legion. He was a member of Delphos Country Club, serving as president for two years. While in Arizona he had his first hole in one at the age of 79. He played in the Ottoville German Band “Brass Notes” under the direction of “Pop” Giesken.
Omer was the voice of the Musketeers at Ft. Jennings High School for 20 years. He was also emcee for school banquets and events for the Lions Club. He was a member of the Putnam County Republic Central Committee for 20 years representing Jennings Township,
He loved sports, followed the Musketeers, Cleveland “Indians”, Browns and Cavaliers and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Above all he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, following all their sports, school events and all of their activities. The family would like to thank Community Health Professionals/Hospice for their love and care of Omer.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rev. Tony Vera officiating. Burial will be at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. prior to mass at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Parish, or to the Ft. Jennings Musketeer Athletic Department.
