DELPHOS – Michael J. Grubenhoff, age 69, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born May 27, 1956, in Lima to Othmer (Bob) and Rita (Mueller) Grubenhoff, who both preceded him in death. On June 1, 1985, he married Terri (Kleman) Grubenhoff, who preceded him in death on March 29, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Dan Grubenhoff and sister in law Nancy (Post) Grubenhoff.
He is survived by two sons, Michael L. R. (Erin Eppley) Grubenhoff, and Joseph P. (Kristina Franks) Grubenhoff of Delphos; a daughter, Elizabeth A. (Ben) Wiley of Beavercreek; Patrick Kundert of Delphos; two sisters, Elaine (Joe) Kulbako of Sarasota, FL, and Diana Grubenhoff of Ft. Meyers, FL; and seven grandchildren, Leo, Vander, Madeline, Griffin, Grace, Caroline, and Henry.
Mike worked in construction with Lee Restoration, where he served as a safety director and project manager. He was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and a proud graduate of Delphos St. John’s High School, Class of 1974. He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Dayton, Class of 1978.
For two years, he served as the President of the Phi Kappa Mu fraternity. A lifelong lover of sports and competition, he was a member of the 1989 Kruse Furniture State Champion Softball team, amongst several other teams. Known for his powerful swing, Mike seemed to hit home runs nearly every time he stepped up to the plate—just as he did in life, leading with confidence, strength, and a heart of gold.
He was an active member of Delphos City Council, St. John’s Hall of Fame committee, GriefShare and the Knights of Columbus where he managed the bar and coordinated events. He took great pride in making sure everyone felt welcome, ensuring gatherings ran smoothly, and creating a place where friendships were formed and strengthened. His presence, leadership, and willingness to serve made a meaningful impact for his community.
Above all else, Mike was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. His family was his greatest pride, and he cherished every moment spent with them. He will be remembered for his unwavering love, faith, his strength, and the joy he brought into the lives of so many. His legacy lives on through the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know and love him. He will be greatly missed, and would like to tell everyone to “Live Long and Prosper”.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a K of C Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. followed by a Parish Wake Service at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus.
