Maurice Edwin Schwartz, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on December 26, 1940, in Spencerville, Ohio, Maurice was the son of the late Virgil Robert Schwartz and Martha Helen Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Stanley and Jim Schwartz, and wife Phyllis .

Maurice's journey began in the close-knit community of Spencerville, where he graduated from Spencerville High School. He carried the values of hard work he learned in his hometown into his professional life, where he worked with dedication and skill. Maurice was an avid outdoorsman, with a love for hunting and the tranquility of nature. His passion for the great outdoors was a testament to his adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for the world around him.

Maurice touched the lives of many. Maurice was formerly married to Kathleen F. Byrne and their children are Steven Schwartz (Jenny), Melanie Ann Heitzman (Andy), and Barbara Fett (Greg).

Maurice was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Stephanie Langhals (Joe), Megan Martin (Sean), Sommer Gorman (Patrick), Miranda Williams (Chris), Audrey Dane (Trevor), and Logan Heitzman (Malyn Conley), and five great-grandchildren, Hunter, Reagan, Heidi, Levi, and Jude. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Schwartz and close friend Doug Bassett

A service to celebrate Maurice's life will be held at 12:00 noon Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Weber Funeral Home, located at 1840 E 5th St, Delphos, Ohio 45833, burial will follow in German Zion Cemetery, at the corner of Kossuth-Amanda and Eisley Roads. There will be a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. until the service time. The family invites all those who knew and loved Maurice to join them in honoring his memory. Following the cemetery service the family invites everyone to the Masonic Lodge in Spencerville for a luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Maurice's memory to the Point Health Ministries, 4230 Alix Dr., Lima, Ohio 45807 or to a charity of your choice.
