DELPHOS – Mary A. Mesker age 83 of Delphos died on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Van Crest of Delphos. She was born on September 10, 1938 in Lima to John and Margaret (O’Brien) Norton who both preceded her in death. On August 16, 1958 she married James Mesker and he survives in Delphos.
Mary is also survived by her six children; Mike (Barb)Mesker of Delphos, Diane (Paul) Iseman of Wichita, KS, Ron (Michelle) Mesker of Perrysburg, Tom (Lissa) Mesker of Indianapolis, IN, Tim (Tina) Mesker of Westchester, OH, Paul (Darcey) Mesker of Morrow, OH; grandchildren; Megan Schumaker, Michael Mesker, Colleen Koerner, Trey Iseman, Aly Scribner, Erin Mohs, Matt Mesker, Jenna Mesker, Zane Mesker, Conner Mesker; and Erica Edell; great grandchildren; Colt, Kynlee, Kizer, Ava, Aubree, Atticus, Isla, Tatum, Lucy, Jo, Tilly, and Marlowe. She is also survived by a brother, Richard Norton of Lima, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Margaret Wilson, Anne Sherman, and a brother, Raymond (Jack) Norton.
Mary was a graduate of St. Rose High School and attended Mary Manse College in Toledo. She then returned to Lima where she taught at St. Gerard’s Catholic School early on. She was a member of St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos where she was a long time member of the choir. She was a Brownie leader and a Cub Scout den mother for many years. She and her husband, Jim, loved traveling with their family. She was a constant presence at her children’s sporting events from the early years on through high school. She continued that tradition for her grandchildren. Baking, especially her orange cookies, was her specialty.
Visitation will be on Monday, February 14 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth Street, Delphos, OH. A parish wake service will begin at 7:45 PM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 15 at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. Burial of ashes will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions can be made to the Delphos Public Library in honor of Mary’s love for reading. On line condolences can be shared at weberfh.net.
