Mary Lou Gerdeman, 93, of Delphos, passed away Wednesday December 10, 2025, at the Meadows of Delphos., surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 31, 1932 in Ottoville to the late Frank and Catherine (Bensman) Hohlbein. On May 15, 1954 she was united in marriage to her best friend Richard (Rich) Gerdeman. He preceded her in death on December 20, 2015.
Mary Lou is survived by three children, sons Rick (Sandy) Gerdeman of St. Marys, and Larry Gerdeman of Delphos; daughter Lynn (Dave) McCray of Lima; three grandchildren Amy (Andrew) Messieha of Houston, TX., Abby (David) Jerome of Carey NC. , and Katie (Alex) McCray Jofriet of Durham NC; three great grandchildren, Adyson Messieha, Alaina Messieha, Casey Jerome with one more due in February; daughter-in-law Linda Gerdeman of Lima; three brothers, Richard Hohlbein of Lima, Jerry (Angie) Hohlbein and Don (Janice) Hohlbein of Ottoville; sister-in-law Lois (Ken) Blankemeyer of Delphos and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert (Wanda) Hohlbein; four sisters, Alice (Virgil) Meyer, Rita Mae (Melvin) Pohlman, Valita (Paul) Lammers, Delores (Carl) Hemker; two infant siblings Carl and Carol Hohlbein; sister-in-laws Dorothy and Sue Hohlbein.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Ottoville High School and a homemaker. She retired from Drapery Stitch then volunteered at St. Rita’s Medical center for 18 years and then the Delphos Interfaith Thrift Shop. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Catholic Church. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She had an extremely close relationship with her grandchildren with whom she enjoyed playing cards and board games, watching their sports events and dance recitals, baking, cooking, doing crafts, vacations and sleepovers. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was very proud of her family.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 15, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Parish Foundation. Online condolences may be shared at weberfh.net
