Mary E Hasselschwert

Mary E. Hasselschwert, age 73, of Delphos, passed away on Friday afternoon January 16, 2026 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s after a sudden illness.

She was born on June 2, 1952 in Defiance to James and Annabelle (Fritz) Hasselschwert who preceded her in death.

Mary graduated from Defiance High School in 1970, and then graduated from St. Francis College in Ft. Wayne. She was a teacher at Delphos St. John’s grade school for many years and was part of the after-school Latch Key program as well as teaching CCD classes. Her overachieving with kids was her calling, and she went above and beyond with “her” students. After she finished her teaching career, Mary went to work at WalMart.

She is survived by a sister-in-law Kathy Hasselschwert in Continental. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her infant brother Robert and her brother Forrest. She is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, and especially her care givers, Sue and Ralph Trentman.

A memorial service for Mary will be on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 10:30 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E Fifth St, Delphos, OH 45833

Mary’s ashes will be interred at the Riverside Cemetery in Defiance next to her parents and brother.
