Mary Jane Gonyea

Mary Jane Gonyea, 85, of Delphos passed away Saturday morning, February 13, 2021, at her residence with her family by her side. She was born March 14, 1935 in Middle Point, Ohio to the late Herbert and Lydia (Neer) Meyers. On June 8, 1957 she married Lavern Gonyea, who preceded her in death on November 5, 2010. Jane is survived by her son, David Gonyea, and her daughter Angie (Sam) Miller, both of Delphos. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Sarah Miller and Cora (Dan Gardner) Gonyea; and three great-grandchildren, Maelynn, Morgan Jane, and Maxwell Gardner. She is preceded in death by her son Dan Gonyea, and her grandson Nathan Miller. Jane was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Delphos where she was very involved with Altar Guild, Pastor Relations Committee, and the Trust Fund where she served as treasurer for many years. She also was a member of the Delphos Mother's Club. She worked at the Delphos City Schools cafeteria for over 20 years and spent 10 summers managing the concession stand at the Delphos city pool. She enjoyed her love of jewelry by also working at Marty's Jewelry Store alongside her best friend. She always provided an extra laugh and enjoyed spending time with family whether it was taking golf cart rides, sitting around an open fire, shopping, or going out to eat. She loved the beach and the snow and made every holiday and season special for her family. She enjoyed The Ohio State and Cleveland Indians games, and a special joy of her life was to follow her granddaughter, Sarah, in all her sporting events. Visiting hours will be 4:00-7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 16, at Weber Funeral Home, Delphos. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 17, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 422 N. Pierce St., Delphos. Vicar Carol Pretorius will officiate. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos. Due to COVID 19 restrictions masks will be required at visitation and the funeral service.
