Leona Bellmann

DELPHOS – Leona Mary Bellmann, age 93 of Delphos, passed away Thursday July 30, 2026 at The Meadows of Delphos.

She was born March 22, 1933 in Kalida to Leo and Alice (Hare) Ricker who both preceded her in death. On October 13, 1951 she married Bernard Bellmann who preceded her in death on May 2, 2019.

Leona is survived by two sons, Bernard (Ann) Bellmann of Elida and William ‘Bill’ (Brenda) Bellmann of Delphos; three daughters, Shirley (Craig) Reinemeyer of Tennessee, Alice ‘Allie’ (Larry) Hickey of Tennessee, and Karen (Mark) Etzkorn of Delphos; one brother Henry (Jean) Ricker. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Hubert, Harry, and Lawrence Ricker; and a sister, Norma Etzkorn; and a son-in-law, Steve Kachelries.

Leona was a member of Delphos St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and VFW Post 3035 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked at Delphos Manufacturing for many years. Later, she was a homemaker. The love of her life was her husband Bernard and her children. She loved to can, cook and bake. One of her special joys was making bread. She loved crafting and crocheting and to give the crocheted items to others. She was known to be the better fisherman, always catching the bigger fish. Over the years of her life, music and singing were a big part of her everyday life, especially singing as a family. Leona was also known as a colon cancer survivor.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be at a later date in St John’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday, on August 3, 2026 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society and VFW Post 3035 Ladies Auxiliary.
