Josephine K. Bockey

Josephine K. Bockey, 97, of Delphos, passed away Tuesday morning, June 12, 2018, at Mercy Health St. Rita's Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. Josephine was born September 12, 1920 to the late Bernard and Elisabeth (Sehlhorst) Sager. On May 22, 1943 she married Cletus Bockey, who preceded her in death January 30, 1994. She is survived by a son, Edward ‘Chip' (Justina) Bockey of Delphos; two daughters, Dorothy Schroeder of Glandorf and Elaine (Tom) Evans of Delphos; a daughter-in-law, Karen Bockey; a son-in-law, Eugene Lauf; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son, George Bockey; a daughter, Pamela Lauf; a son-in-law, Lynn Schroeder; brother, Edwin (Lucille) Sager; sisters, Clara (Henry) Miller and Irene (James) Mackey; and one grandson, Todd Lauf. Josephine was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Catholic Ladies of Columbia Council 40. Josephine worked right alongside Cletus and was a devoted farmwife. She enjoyed and taught her children and grandchildren her skill of canning fruits and vegetables. Her passion was embroidery, especially for her family. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, June 15, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a CL of C service will be held at 7:00 p.m., and a Parish Wake Service at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Delphos Relay for Life.
