Joseph C. Youngpeter

LANDECK – Joseph ‘Joe’ Youngpeter age 88, of Landeck, passed away March 25, 2026 at his residence.

Joe was born in Landeck on June 14, 1937, to Clarence ‘Booty’ and Alma (Shirack) Youngpeter, who both preceded him in death. On April 4, 1959, he married Carol Ann (Dienstberger) Youngpeter, who preceded him in death on February 16, 2018.

They were blessed with five children: Vicki (Alan) Schnipke Delphos, Peggy (Gary) Pohlman Ottoville, Becky (Kevin) Miller Columbus, Tammy (Tim) Rakovan Rossford, OH, and Mark Joseph Youngpeter who preceded him in death on July 9, 1997. He is also survived by his siblings, Leon ‘Whiz’ Youngpeter of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Ruthie (Ronald) Falter of Columbia, S.C., grandchildren, Craig (Miranda) Schnipke, Bethany (Nate) Brodbeck, Kimberly (Jared) Fortman, Brent (Abby) Pohlman, Lee Pohlman, Scott (Emilee) Pohlman, Connor Miller and Lex Rakovan; great-grandchildren, Landon Pohlman, Callie Pohlman, Cassie Pohlman, Griffin Pohlman, Bennett Fortman, Veda Fortman, and Aspyn Schnipke; and his best little buddy, Tyke.

Joe was also preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Annie (Fred) Ruen; an infant sister, Mary Youngpeter; two brothers and their wives, Donald and Helen Youngpeter and Richard ‘Dick’ and Marilyn Youngpeter; a sister-in-law, Diane Youngpeter.

He was a 1956 graduate of St. John’s High School. Joe served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifetime farmer, and also worked as the custodian at Landeck School for 35 years. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic. Joe served as a Marion Township trustee for 32 years. He was also a member of American Legion Post 268, Eagles Aerie 471, and the Sportsmen’s Club. Joe and Carol enjoyed traveling, visiting 49 states and Canada for 52 straight years. For over 50 years they enjoyed fishing in Longlac, Canada. He was a member of Freddie’s Place, Tamarack Sportsmen’s Club in Pennsylvania. He enjoyed fishing, fast and slow pitch softball for Landeck Tavern and Pohlman Brothers. Joe was a dedicated husband for 58 years to Carol and father to his children. Joe dearly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E 5th Street, Delphos, Ohio 45833 from 2:00 To 6:00 p.m. with a Parish Wake beginning at 6:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 30, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 14755 Landeck Rd., Landeck, burial to follow in the church cemetery, with Military Rites conducted by the Delphos Veteran Council.
