John R. Shafer

John R. Shafer, 82, of Delphos, passed away Wednesday October 15, 2025 at The Meadows of Kalida.

He was born November 22,1942 in Van Wert Ohio to, Chester E. Shafer and A. Katherine (Johnson) Shafer, both who preceded him in death. On April 23, 1966 he married Candace (Patton) Shafer who survives in Delphos.

John is survived by his son, Jeffrey R. Shafer from Elida Ohio, daughters, Kimberley A. Merschman, and Kelley M. (Craig) Beining both from Delphos, sister-in-law, Barbara Shafer of Delphos, sister, M. Joan Baker of Rochester Minnesota, 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother in- law, Mert Baker and a brother, Lester E. Shafer

John was a graduate of Delphos Jefferson High School.

John had a great love for his grandchildren as well.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, burial will follow in Ridge Cemetery, in Middlepoint Ohio.

Visitation will be from 2:00p.m to 5:00p.m. on Sunday October 19, 2025 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 5:00p.m
