John Andrew Giesken

John Andrew Giesken, 90, of Landeck, passed away Tuesday morning, January 12, 2021, at The Springs of Lima. He was born May 7, 1930, in Ottoville to John and Rosa (Schlagbaum) Giesken, who both preceded him in death. On September 3, 1955, he married Clara M. (Klaus) Giesken, who preceded him in death on June 23, 2001. John is survived by two sons, James (Ronda) Giesken of Monclova, and John Giesken of Petaluma, California; two daughters, Julia (William) Maberry, and Jennifer Giesken, both of Lima; nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Jeremy, Adam, Lee, Briana, Alex, Jacob, Dakota and Noah; and five great-grandchildren, Izais, Nala, Brielle, Bryhlnd, and Abraham. He was also preceded in death by eight brothers, William, Alvey, Joseph, Harry, Ambrose, Julius, Clarence and Norbert Giesken; and three sisters, Rosemary Niemeyer, Wilma Leubrecht and Emma Schwinnen. John owned B&G Livestock, and was also the owner of Giesken Insulating, retiring in 2011. He was a 1949 graduate of St. John's High School, playing on their first State Championship basketball team. In 2012, John was inducted into the St. John's Hall of Fame for his service. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Landeck. John loved being involved in and attending all of the grandkids games and activities. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Landeck. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Capital Campaign.
