James C. 'Jim' Schulte

DELPHOS – James C. ‘Jim’ Schulte, 87, of Delphos, passed away Tuesday evening September 29, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 7, 1939 in Kalida to Frank and Freda (Edelbrock) Schulte who both preceded him in death. On June 23, 1962 he married Darlene Grothaus who preceded him in death on June 22, 2026.

Jim is survived by a son, Duane (Linda) Schulte of Landeck; daughters, Peggy (Craig) Mansfield of Landeck, and Sarah (Brian) Jostpille of Elida; grandchildren, Meghan (Charlie) Maag, Melanie (David) Harbold, Brice (Kylie) Schulte, Colleen Schulte, Austin (Adrienne) Jostpille, and Morgan Jostpille; and great-grandchildren, Chase, Brielle, Noah, and Larson Maag, Wyatt and Abigail Harbold, Isaiah, Kolbe and Gemma Schulte, Aiden, Dawson, and Mason Jostpille. He is also survived his siblings, Dave (Carol) Schulte of Van Wert, sister- in-law Linda Schulte of Kalida, Mike Schulte of Ottawa, and Jerry (Helen) Schulte of Kalida.

He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter Kayla Jostpille, brothers, LaVerne (Carlene) Schulte, Robert (Grace) Schulte, and Paul Schulte and a sister Joanne (Tom) Hermiller.

Jim graduated from Kalida High School. He owned and operated Schulte Communications. Jim had been a member of The Army National Guard.

He enjoyed casinos, their winter Florida trips for a week at a time, and loved being at Rose Lake with his family, swimming, skiing, fishing and boating, he was known as “Captain” of the pontoon. Jim found great joy and loved following all of his kids and grandkids in all of their activities. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 5:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Parish Foundation or a charity of donor’s choice.
