Jaime Rene Garza, 65, of Delphos, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2025 at his home.
He was born December 3, 1959, in Lima to Frank and Delores (Champion) Garza-Sauceda, who both preceded him in death. On September 23, 1978, Jaime met the love of his life, Donna Stockwell, while cruising when he “accidentally” bumped into her car. They were married May 9, 1981. Donna passed away May 18, 2014.
Jaime is survived by a daughter, Sarah (Michael) Clune of Chickasaw; two sons, Gregory (Tiffany) Garza and Thomas Garza, both of Delphos; four grandchildren, Olivia Clune, Georgia Clune, Rhett Clune, and Angel Garza; a special friend, Carol Grothaus; six brothers, Robert (Lola) Garza of Celina, Rudy (Debby) Garza of New Haven, IN, Frank Jr. (Ondrayah) Garza of Detroit, Edward Garza, and David Garza, both of Delphos, and Joe Garza of Germany; three sisters, Gloria (Mike) Benson, and Belinda (Mark) Murphy, both of Michigan, and Lily (Shawn) Hester of Georgia; mother-in-law, Linda Stockwell of Delphos; sister-in-law, Maria (Tom) Osterloh of Minster; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Renee Garza and a nephew Brian Garza.
Jaime was a 1978 graduate of Delphos St. John’s. Being a devout Catholic, he prayed the rosary every day and wore the brown scapular, having a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and its Shepherds of Christ Associates Prayer Group. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1362, holding a fourth degree, and was also a member of US Chess Federation, holding a national rating.
It is said that God has a plan for everyone. His plan for Jaime was to work in agriculture, starting out at Fort Jennings Equity Elevator in a wood grain elevator, working there for 15 years. He worked with grain, seed, fertilizer, animal feed, herbicides, insecticides, and maintenance and repair. He went on to work for Bunge North America and Soybean Processing for 26 years, retiring in 2019.
Jaime enjoyed football, was an Arizona Cardinals fan since 1970, a Columbus Blue Jackets Fan, and an Ohio State Buckeye fan. He enjoyed music and movies, amassed a modest collection of both movies and music.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will be held at a later date. The family invites those who wish to come to the Delphos Eagles after mass for lunch and a celebration of life for Jaime.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a K of C Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Parish Wake Service at 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Parish Foundation or Mercy Health Hospice by Compassus.
