Helen Schwieterman

M. Helen Schwieterman, 85, of Delphos, passed away Saturday April 17, 2021, at 11:09 a.m., at Sarah Jane Living Center surrounded by her loving family.

She was born November 1, 1935 in Chickasaw, Ohio to Charles and Mary (Zahn) Huelsman who preceded her in death. On July 23, 1955, she married Edgar D. Schwieterman, who preceded her in death on April 10, 2015.

She is also survived by three daughters, Pamela (Duane) Place of Maumee, Diane Miller of Perrysburg, and Kathy (Paul Jr.) Feathers of Delphos; a son, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Schwieterman of Delphos; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Jason) VanHoose, Erika (Jay) Volker, Krista (Chad) Schrader, Nicholas Feathers, Nolan Feathers, Ryan (Brooke) Schwieterman, Emily (Tim) Clark, Kaitlyn Schwieterman (Jason Klaus); eight great-grandchildren, Kaden and Kendall Schrader, Henry and Ginny VanHoose, Max, Will, and Hayes Schwieterman, and Jocelyn Clark.

Helen is also survived by her siblings, Bob (Marlene) Huelsman, Paul (Alice) Huelsman, Frieda(Walt) Schwieterman, Jean(Ralph) Stachler, and Jane(Adrian) Grilliot.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Chuck and Fred Huelsman; and a sister, Delores (Lowell) Bohman.

Helen was an avid gardener and seamstress. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society and St. John’s High School Boosters. She was instrumental in the Allen County Chapter of Right to Life, having attended the first Right to Life March in D.C. Helen was owner and founder of Touch of Nature Florist and Greenhouse, and co-owner of Yocum Realty Delphos, and Trico Realty in Delphos. Along with her husband, Ed, they were deeply rooted and very active in their communities of Coldwater and then moving to Delphos in 1972, continuing that tradition of civic involvement for many years. Above all, Helen was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. A funeral mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.  Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 p.m.  Visitation will also be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Any memorial contributions made to the family will be used for the beautification of the Delphos City Parks.  Online condolences may be shared at www.weberfh.net.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff at Sarah Jane Living Center and Evergreen Hospice. We truly appreciate the exceptional care provided for Helen, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, in keeping with the state order, masks are mandatory at the funeral home and church.
