Gordon H. Moenter

May 11, 1934 — October 23, 2022

Gordon H. Moenter, 88, of Delphos, passed away Sunday evening, October 23, 2022, at Mercy Health St. Rita’s surrounded by his family.

He was born May 11, 1934, in Allen County to the late Carl and Matilda (Geise) Moenter. Gordie married the love of his life, Imelda ‘Minnie’ Utrup on August 24, 1963.

Gordie graduated from Delphos St. John’s High School in 1953. He went in the Army in 1957 for two years. He was very proud to serve his country.

He loved the farm life, helping his dad farm at a young age. He always told everyone how he used to drive horses. He was always fixing things and trying to make it better for everyone. He was a great handyman.

Gordie drove a milk truck for 37 years, for the last four years he took Minnie along every day. When he retired, wherever you saw them they were always together. Their love for each other grew more every day. They were blessed to have 59 years together. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was always playing jokes on someone. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie of Delphos; four children, Dr. Darlene (Ruben) Rodriguez of Cleveland, Michael (Stephanie) Moenter of Delphos, Cheryl (Anthony) Balsamo of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Michelle ‘Munch’ Moenter of Delphos; eight grandchildren, Brenda (Adam) Crowe, Chris (Katie) Moenter, Justin Moenter, Eli Moenter, Matthew Rodriguez, Lauren Rodriguez, Felicia Balsamo and Dylan Balsamo; and five great-grandchildren, Landen Moenter, Brooklyn Moenter, Braelyn Moenter, Sophia Crowe and Kensley Crowe. He is also survived by two sisters, Alice Drexler and Dolores Meyer both of Wapak; a brother, Irvin (Rosanna) Moenter of Delphos; and a cousin, Ralph Lauser of Delphos.

Gordie was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers-in-law, Andy Drexler and Albert Meyer; and a grandson, Ruben Rodriguez Jr.
