Gerald J. Wessell

Gerald ‘Jerry’ J. Wessell, 83, passed away December 21, 2021 at Mercy Health- St. Rita’s Medical Center.

Jerry was born December 30, 1937 in Ottoville , Ohio to Clarence and Martha (Wurst) Wessell who preceded him in death along with Ronald and Joan Wessell.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janice Sue (Lause) of Delphos, OH ; daughter Carla Wessell-Knowles (Christopher) of Hilliard, OH and son Scott Wessell (Joanna) of Delphos, OH ; grandsons Joshua Bingaman of Hilliard, OH, Quinten (Jenna) Wessell of Ottawa, OH ; granddaughters Aemelie Bingaman of Hilliard, OH, Morgan Wessell of Lima, OH and Sage Bingaman of Hilliard, OH ;

three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; brother and sister-in-law Bob and Linda Lause.

Jerry graduated from Ottoville H.S. in 1956 and married his High School sweetheart in 1960. His life adventures included the Ohio National Guard 1960-1964, fireman for 16 years with the Ottawa Volunteer Fire Dept. Upon retirement from the United Telephone Company of 39 years, he started  The Creamery in 1982 Delphos He also worked part-time at Delphos Tent and Awning and Weber Funeral Home. Jerry was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Delphos Eagles. In his spare time you could find him fishing at the local ponds, camping at Indian Lake, playing cards and enjoying his gardening.

A funeral Mass will be held at St John Catholic Church Delphos, Ohio on Monday January 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation in church at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to St. John’s Parish Foundation. Arrangements were entrusted to Weber Funeral Home, Delphos.
