Eugene L. ‘Gene’ Weber, 94, of Delphos, passed away Friday morning, July 15, 2022, at Vancrest of Delphos with his loving wife and family at his side.

He was born April 2, 1928, in Ottoville to the late Albert and Regina (Smith) Weber. On February 18, 1950, he married Rose L. ‘Posy’ (Hohenbrink) Weber, who survives in Delphos.

Gene is survived by four sons, Sid (Kathy) Weber of Delphos, Ned Weber of Springfield, Dr. Kim (Jerilyn) Weber of Springfield and Chad (Jean) Weber of Delphos; three daughters, Trude (Jeff) Menke of Ottoville, Katrina (Doug) Noonan of Hamilton and Wendy (Dennis ‘Grub’) Grothause of Wapak; a son-in-law, Bob Scherger of Wapak; a sister, June Link of Delphos; 27 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Polly Scherger; infant son, Guy Eugene Weber; daughter-in-law, Susan Weber; two brothers, Joseph Weber and Robert Weber; and five sisters, Luella Barkimer, Colletta Schram, Imogene Jackson, Donna Reinemeyer and Helen Geddings.

Gene retired in 1994 from Fruehauf, after working there for 38 ½ years in the maintenance department. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1362, and St. Vincent DePaul. He had served in several prayer groups especially the Shepherds of Christ and he and Posy attended and were involved with a Cursillo Retreat. Gene and Posy were both Secular Franciscans. They volunteered for over 20 years at the Church Festival in the salad area. They had been foster parents to over 18 children for over a period of ten years. Gene loved tinkering in the garage and was a talented woodworker. He had a great sense of humor, always had a smile and was fun loving. Spending time with the grandkids and great-grandkids brought him so much joy.

Above all Gene was the best husband, dad and grandpa ever.
