Elizabeth L. ‘Betty’ Calvelage, 83, of Ft. Jennings, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 30, 2025 at her home. She was born October 2, 1942 in Ft. Jennings to the late Lawrence and Verena (Suever) Warnecke. On October 6, 1962 she married Robert ‘Bobby’ Calvelage who preceded her in death November 28, 2017.
Betty is survived by a daughter, Nancy Haunhorst of Delphos; five sons, Rick (Jackie) Calvelage of Celina, Bill (Deb) Calvelage of Ft. Jennings, Alan (Elaine) Calvelage of Cloverdale, Rex (Beth) Calvelage of Delphos, and Brad (Sue) Calvelage of Ft. Jennings; 10 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; a brother Kenny Warnecke; and a sister, Eileen Bonifas.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Marion Ricker; brothers, Richard Warnecke, Roger Warnecke, Edwin Warnecke, Leander Warnecke and Bill Warnecke; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Betty was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphos VFW and Eagles Aerie 471. She loved working in her yard, riding the lawn mower, and the outdoors. She enjoyed reading books, doing puzzles, scratch off lottery tickets, and country music – especially Johnny Cash. Betty and Bob were co-owners of the Knotty Pine. She sold monuments for Woodlawn Monuments and worked at Delphos Food Locker for many years. She was also involved with Calvelage Vault and Excavating. Above all she loved spending time with her family, especially when the grandchildren were playing hooky to play cards and enjoy hot dogs and Snickers with Grandma.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 4, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Ron Schock officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will also be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Cemetery or Thomas Edison. Online condolences may be shared at www.weberfh.net.
