Elda M. Calvelage

Elda M. Calvelage, 85, of Delphos, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, at The Community Health Professionals Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert. Her Family.... She was born August 9, 1930 in Delphos to Bernard F. and Mary A. (Kleman) Falke, who both preceded her in death. On June 17, 1950 she married Wilfred G. Calvelage, who preceded her in death on April 28, 1989. She is survived by a son, Dan (Linda) Calvelage of Delphos. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bernard Falke and Forrest Rahrig; and sisters, Agnes Liebrecht and Myrtle Louth. Her Legacy.... Elda was a graduate of Delphos St. John's High School. She had worked as a cook for Town House Restaurant, Country Kitchen and the Dairy Hut. She had also worked at the Delphos Cigar Factory shortly after high school. She was in charge of running the concessions for both boys and girls St. John's basketball games for 28 years. Elda volunteered for the American Red Cross Bloodmobile for 23 years, being recognized in 2011 as the Allen County Chapter Volunteer of the Year. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was a past member of the Catholic Daughters of America and St. John's Athletic Boosters. Her Farewell Services.... Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 8 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Daniel Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Delphos St. John's Parish Foundation or the Community Health Professionals Homecare and Hospice.
