Donna M. Holdgreve, 82, of Delphos, passed away Thursday evening, October 26, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Her Family.... She was born October 6, 1935, in Delphos to Edward and Nellie (Wade) Vonderembse who both preceded her in death. On September 14, 1957, she married Robert Holdgreve in St. John Catholic Church, Delphos, and they had been married 60 years. Robert survives in Delphos. She is also survived by her daughters, Cindy (Matt) Kostoff and Maria Powley both of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Christina (Scott) Elwer of Delphos; seven grandchildren, Brian Kostoff of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lindsay Kostoff of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Allison (Payton) Selking of Decatur, Indiana, and Zachary Powley of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Troy, Hannah and Halle Elwer of Delphos; sisters-in-law, Norma Vonderembse, Georgine Vonderembse, Louise McRedmond, Janet Holdgreve, and Pat Holdgreve; brothers-in-law, John Holdgreve, Irvin Holdgreve and Ralph Holdgreve. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Leona Wreede; six brothers, Eugene, Paul, Carl, Herb, Harold (Gus) and John Vonderembse; brothers-in-law, Evan Wreede, John McRedmond and Richard Schwinnen; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Marjorie Vonderembse and Ann Schwinnen; and son-in-law, David Powley. Her Legacy.... Donna was a life-long member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She graduated from St. John's High School in 1953 as Valedictorian of her class. After graduation she had been employed in the office of the original Tank Depot and later at the People's National Bank, renamed the Society Bank in Delphos from where she retired. She and her husband had traveled to all fifty states, first with their family and later with friends. She had been a Girl Scout leader for a number of years and also was the treasurer of the Delphos Historical Association, which later merged with the Delphos Canal Commission. Her volunteer work also included working at the Thrift Shop and the bingo concession stand at St. John's. Donna was an avid reader, loved working in her yard and with her flowers, and riding her bike. She especially loved her family and her grandchildren, who filled her heart with life and love. She enjoyed attending many of their activities and sporting events. She was a Blue Jay fan all of her life and watched or listened to their sporting events whenever possible. Her Farewell Services.... Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 30, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Dennis Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, with a Parish Wake Service held at 7:45 p.m.; and one hour before the time of the service on Monday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos. Memorial contributions may be made to Delphos St. John's Teachers Endowment fund or St. Rita's Hospice.
