Darlene Schulte, 87, of Delphos, passed away Monday morning, June 22, 2026 at Mercy Health St. Rita’s.
She was born October 29, 1938 in Landeck to Nelson and Celeste ‘Toots’ (Kill) Grothaus who both preceded her in death. On June 23, 1962 she married James Schulte who survives in Delphos.
Darlene is also survived by a son, Duane (Linda) Schulte of Landeck; daughters, Peggy (Craig) Mansfield of Delphos, and Sarah (Brian) Jostpille of Elida; brothers, Jack (Ann) Grothaus, and Dan (Diane) Grothaus, both of Landeck; grandchildren, Meghan (Charlie) Maag, Melanie (David) Harbold, Brice (Kylie) Schulte, Colleen Schulte, Austin (Adrienne) Jostpille, and Morgan Jostpille; and great-grandchildren, Chase, Brielle, Noah, and Larson Maag, Wyatt and Abigail Harbold, Isaiah, Kolbe and Gemma Schulte, Aiden, Dawson, and Mason Jostpille.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Grothaus; and a granddaughter, Kayla Jostpille.
Darlene graduated from Delphos St. John’s, and Frederick’s Beauty School. She went to work at Ginny’s Beauty Shop in Delphos, and then started Darlene Beauty Shop out of her home in 1964 where she continued to cut hair up until she fell a month ago.
She enjoyed casinos, their winter Florida trips for a week at a time, and loved being at Rose Lake with her family, swimming, skiing, and boating. Darlene found great joy and loved following all of her kids and grandkids in all of their activities. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and an avid bowler at the Delphos Bowling Alley.
A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 26 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 25 at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Parish Foundation or a charity of donor’s choice.
